Frequently Asked Questions
What are the advantages of a laminate countertop?
Laminate countertops have gained traction over the years and now boast exceptional quality. In addition to creating the upscale look of stone or granite, they are much less expensive and, contrary to most stone and other solid-surface products, don’t require special maintenance. Postformed and seamless, laminate countertops are also better protected from the excessive accumulation of bacteria and dirt.
What is a postformed or seamless countertop?
Postformed countertops are countertops that are prefabricated in a single piece, from the backsplash to the front edge. Laminate “wraps around” a particleboard core to provide an unbroken (seamless) surface.
As opposed to stone and granite countertops, seamless countertops help prevent bacteria and dirt from accumulating. They don’t require any special maintenance, in addition to giving you the freedom to create personalized spaces.
Do you custom-build countertops?
Our kitchen and vanity countertops are offered in standard lengths of 8’, 10’ and 12’ and are available on particleboard measuring 5/8” or 3/4”. It goes without saying that we use the best laminates on the North American market.
The standard widths of our countertops range from 22 1/2” to 25 1/2”. Our standard bar top and island widths are 26 3/4”, 32” and 36”. Need a countertop with special dimensions? Our network of retailers and cutting centers is there to complete your custom requests.

Can a laminate countertop look like stone, granite or marble?
Yes, Bélanger Laminates’ countertops give the appearance of real stone granite ou marble at a fraction of the cost of actual stone.
How do you take care of a laminate countertop?
As opposed to stone or a solid surface, laminate countertops do not require sealant or polishing.
Simply use a clean, damp cloth with a mild, non-abrasive detergent. To remove sticky residue, scrub with a nylon brush.
For tough stains, apply a baking soda/water paste. Remove the excess with a damp cloth.
To remove ink or crayon marks from your countertop, use an alcohol-free solvent or nail polish remover. Use a small quantity of the product and repeat until the stain has completely disappeared. Lastly, rinse the surface and clean as usual.

Where can I install a laminate countertop?
You can install a laminate countertop anywhere that you have a work space: in the kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, children’s rooms, office, garage and rec rooms.
Laminate countertops are also ideal for commercial applications: in kitchenettes, cafeterias, classrooms, reception areas, breakfast bars, rest areas and more.
What are the advantages of a seamless backsplash?
Installing a seamless backsplash at your counter’s edge is a smart choice because, since it’s easy to clean, it creates a cleaner interior environment and a more sanitary food preparation area.
